Day 3. Llanidloes to Caersws

Wednesday 24 August.

We stayed overnight at the Coach and Horses, now a B&B. Friendly host and hostess who provided good breakfast. We've never before had such large rooms at a B&B. It was specially adapted for someone in a wheel chair.

We had our evening meal at 'The Royal Head.'
Prices moderate, quality  ok, and portions enormous.

We left Llanidloes at 10:10 am on a warm, sunny morning. There was virtually no wind and it was soon very muggy.

We initially followed Glyndwr's Way through the forest, mainly oak according to Fr. Barr, but then turned down,  off it, on to the B4569. We followed that for a 'hairy' 0.5km before turning right on to farmland. Not all entries to pathways,  especially from public roads, were clearly marked.

The farms appeared to be mainly sheep farms but we did spot one or two cows.

We managed the route without needing machetes but training as a limbo dancer would have been useful at times.

There was little road walking after the B4569, and what there was was very quiet. Today's walking was largely over Welsh farming land.

We arrived in Cearsws before 4pm but it took some time to locate ' The Mid Wales Arts Centre'  where we have B&B accomodation. It's a beautiful location to stay at. We walked around the gardens this evening after our supper. There are paintings in our room and about the house. It's a bit like staying at 'The Tate Modern.'

There is an exhibition going on at the moment and the garden is full of sculptures. Most look a bit heavy to ship to New Zealand.
