Day 11. Bewdley to Stourport on Severn.

Thursday 1 September.

We left the George (photo) early (8:45) as we thought it might be a long day. After crossing the bridge (photo) we passed a couple and Shiel noticed the woman was picking up rubbish. I got her to pose for a picture.

The views to the town across the river were attractive and I've attached examples. The path was clear and pretty well maintained in most places with good signs.

We passed through a small rock gorge before entering a very heavily forested area on the far bank of the river. There was knot weed but the path was mowed.

We've been seeing lots of blackberries on the walk and the taste varies enormously. Some can be very good.

We then came into an area with lots of caravan and chalet parks. They usually had well mown areas along the river bank.

Just before Stourport we came across the SMY&BA.The Stourport Small Yacht and Bungalow Association? It seemed a strange combination to us. Some of it's fencing on the riverside was offensive to the eye (photo). A little futher on a Fair was in the process of packing up but after the Bridge at Stourport there was a second Fair which appeared permanent.

We passed locks where the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal joined the Severn and the were now more barges to be seen on the river. Even sign posts became more complicated as we were  joined by more paths.

We met our second public spirited rubbish collector who was in converstion with a fisherman who appeared to be a friend. Just as we were chatting he caught a small roach.
